Rose Theatre Kingston – Alice in Wonderland Auditions

It’s only four months into the year, but planning for Christmas Pantos is already underway! The Rose Theatre Kingston has announced that their winter show will be Alice in Wonderland, adapted and directed by Ciaran McConville. Based on the much loved stories of Lewis Carroll, audiences will step through the Looking Glass with Alice this Christmas and join her in this glorious adventure. And this year, you could even become part of this world too…

As with 2015 and 2016, the Rose Theatre Kingston invites young people aged 10 – 19 to audition to perform in Alice in Winterland as part of Rose Youth Theatre. Working alongside an award-winning creative team and supported by experienced teaching staff, up to fifty young people will learn high level acting skills before performing in alternate shows across the run. The young cast will receive training from a voice coach, movement director, musical director and stage director.

Auditions will take place on Thursday 18, Saturday 20, Sunday 21, Thursday 25, Friday 26 and Saturday 27 May. For further information please visit, or email Director of Learning and Participation Ciaran McConville at

Ciaran McConville said, “Last year we met 300 young people for our Christmas show workshop auditions. Although we take the process very seriously, the sessions are set up to be fun, educational and not at all intimidating. We have a really friendly staff and it’s an opportunity for anyone aged 10-19 to get an insight into the process of auditioning. Whether or not you get a part in this particular project, there is a place for any young person at the Rose; our youth theatre is really busy and vibrant, working on lots of different projects in many groups throughout the year.”

Alice in Wonderland will play from 7th December 2017 – 7th January 2018 at the Rose Theatre Kingston. For more information and to book tickets, visit the official website
